(ARC) The Scottish Bride by Marquita Valentine (The Brides of Holland Springs #5)

ARC Review 4

Tired of waiting for her older brother’s best friend to come to his senses, Cadence Romanov travels to New York City in order to bring Maddox home. But seeing him again opens up raw wounds of abandonment. Refusing to be easily led by him again, she runs away to Holland Springs, but not before leaving him a note as to where she’s going. This time, it’s all up to him to win her back.

After one reckless night ends in tragedy, Scottish rugby player Maddox Stewart turned his back on his former life, leaving everything behind, including Cadence… until she tracks him down and demands answers. As soon as Maddox sees her, he knows that nothing has changed between them and there’s nothing he won’t do to have her again. Forced to confront his demons, Maddox must find a way to forgive himself and win back his wife.

The Scottish Bride by Marquita Valentine is the 5th book in The Brides of Holland Springs series. Releasing July 20th.

This is the second book I have read by author Marquita Valentine, and the first book I have read out of order in a series of her’s. I will say it was a bit confusing just jumping into a series like this. There were so many names and people that I was unfamiliar with and back stories that were not explained. With this book being short novella type it was fast moving and jumping around. I got lost a lot, but I am sure if I read other books in this series I would have not been. There was a lot going on in such little time and actually very little drama minus a chapter or so. I would love to jump back into this series and read more, it probably would make more sense to me and I would hopefully get that back story of the two main characters Cadence and Maddox.

Cadence has been in love with her brother Jude’s best friend Maddox for what feels like ever and it seems like Maddox might feel the same. As these two have grown up feelings become stronger and things rush together for them. Except with being a famous Rugby player like Maddox and having a royalty family things can get heavy and serious when one major accident happens.

Maddox knows what he wants and how to get it. He has a strong head on his shoulders until everything he once believes gets turned upside down. So he runs, he runs away from his friends that he may of hurt, his family and the girl he loves. He feels like what happened is his fault, or maybe it isn’t… but he will do whatever he has to do to protect the woman he loves from getting hurt from her family, even if that means running. He definitely didn’t expect her to find him.
