“I was thrilled when I was offered a graduate teaching position at the prestigious Tennerson Girls Academy. At twenty-three, this would be my first ‘real’ teaching assignment. Working at the elite boarding school, home to the daughters of some of the wealthiest people in the world, was a great opportunity that I would’ve been stupid to pass up.
One week into my new job, and I suddenly had no idea why I chose high school…I was a seventeen year old boy once, I knew how teenage girls behaved.
You can’t even imagine the hell of trying to teach thirty, hormonal driven seventeen year olds who have been cooped up, away from any male contact.
I could handle the whispers every time I entered the room. I could even handle the obvious attempts at gaining my attention. What I couldn’t handle was her…
Rich bitches and way too many rules. Was it any wonder that I hated school?
Add to that the lack of male contact, and I was going insane. Like literally. I wasn’t used to this. A year ago I was normal. I had a boyfriend, friends and a loving family. There is nothing normal about me anymore, and nobody here lets me forget that.
My name is Wrenn, and I’m only here because my aunt took me in after what happened, but my aunt also happens to be the headmistress of this academy…Can you see my problem?
I’m hated for my lack of money, and I’m hated for who my Aunt is.
Then he arrived. Dalton Reed. My new history teacher.
Slowly, he helped me see that even in the worst situations, there is always hope.”

Wrenn is not your typical 18 year old female. For starters she isn’t in college but back in High School repeating her second year. Well actually its a Boarding School and honestly she is only doing half a year. What makes Wrenn less typical is that she lost her parents and brother in a car crash less than a year ago. Causing her to start over and move in with her aunt. Living with the headmaster of the boarding school and yet not having money is really hard for Wrenn to fit in. The girls are bitches and don’t seem like they’re going lead up anytime soon.
I don’t normally go for teenager books. Especially teacher/high school student. But this one didn’t bother me considering the female lead was 18 and the male lead was just out of college at 23. It was refreshing to read a book that wasn’t about all sex and dirty thoughts. Wrenn was innocent, pure and had a lot going on in her head and life. Yes she had sexual thoughts, yes she wanted Dalton badly but it was more of the connection at first. They were drawn to each other but everything started as a friendship.
From the very beginning of the book, the readers know that Dalton’s dad had a disease that killed him. We had no idea what that disease was but it’s something that might affect Dalton as well. So even before Wrenn found out, we knew that this book might not end with a HEA. That being said, whether the outcome is positive or not the book does end happy and well. Once again whether the outcome is Dalton being sick or not, this is my first time ever even reading a book that is about someone possibly dying young.
I enjoyed the writing style. Yes it was a little off and childish at times, but perfect for Wrenn who is the young but trying to be very mature 18 year old. Heck Dalton at being 23 is still young as well. Their love was fresh, inspiring and at some moments heartbreaking that two people so young had to go through life with such heartache and disasters.
This book isn’t for the faint of heart but still enjoyable 🙂

LONG REVIEW with Spoilers. SO SPOILER ALERT!!!
Wrenn and Dalton have met before. Before she was the only one to survive the car accident that killed her parents and brother. Before his father died of a horrible disease. Yet when they meet again 11 years later they have no clue. Not that they really knew each other back then anyways. Just a minor conversation in their lives.
Dalton Reid is the new history teacher at an all girls school. With being 23 and extremely attractive all the girls basically want him. Even Wrenn. But Wrenn doesn’t tell anyone that, considering she has no friends except for Kass – who is a lesbian.
Dalton ends up finding Wrenn at the headmasters home for dinner. Most of the teachers are there as well. They spend a few minutes talking about horror movies. Which leads Dalton giving Wrenn one of his favorite movies to borrow. And when Dalton comes by to drop something off to Wrenn’s aunt, and she’s not there. He stays and they order pizza and watch a horror movie together.
Soon Wrenn is sure this is not just in her head and that Dalton likes her as well. So she sneaks in her aunts cell phone and gets his number. Calling him asking him to go see a horror movie together two towns over.
The night went well, especially after she kissed him. Except it kind of freaked Dalton out. I mean he is her teacher and all. They go out the next night and decided to give this a shot. He’ll be done in a few weeks subbing and she’ll be graduated.
They date for a few weeks. Everything is going well. Until it gets in Dalton’s head that he can’t ruin his career. That he might have the same disease that his father had, and he can’t put that on Wrenn. Also even if they wait until after he is done teaching, everyone will still know they met through him being her teacher and her being his student. What will people think? So he ends it with her. Making her extremely mad and angry.
They try to stay away from each other, but when Dalton’s co-worker sets him up on a date and Dalton didn’t realize it and Wrenn happens to show up at the same restaurant it changes everything. Mostly when her friend Kass as her girlfriend bring her brother to pretend to be Wrenn’s date. Before long Wrenn goes to the bathroom and runs into Dalton. He pulls her into the storage room and they would of probably had sex right there if it was in public. They decide to keep things quiet and do this.
He even whisks her off for a weekend away in a cute expensive cabin. They have a great time talking and also having sex.
Everything is going well and the Love word is in both of their heads, just not out loud yet. Except the bitch Paige from school finds out somehow and it might ruin whats going on between them. Unless the fact that Dalton has been hiding a secret from Wrenn ruins them first.
Wrenn overhears her aunt talking to Dalton’s mother. That his dad died of a disease and his mother is afraid he has it. Wrenn rushes off to the river to be alone. Hours later after being lost in her head she calls Dalton. They have a small fight about him not telling her, especially when she is falling in love with him. Dalton’s father had Huntington’s disease and there is a 50/50 chance that Dalton does as well. Wrenn is scared to lose someone she loves again which is understandable, but she is also being really selfish.
After running to her family’s summer home with Kass, Dalton shows up. After he answers some questions for her, he asks for one last night with her just in case it is just that – one last night. The next morning he finds her in a club house and realizes that he has met Wrenn before. She was 7 – him 12. His mother and her mother had known each other. They were here for a summer party and Dalton went outside after sick of hearing his family talk about the Huntington’s disease. Wrenn was the one that made him realize at age 12 to not fret about the disease, that he needs to live life.
When Dalton got back to school Monday he was pulled into Wrenn aunt Layna’s office. Paige made an accusation that Dalton forced Paige to his room and basically raped her. Dalton was on suspension and had to be removed from school property – which is where he was living since it’s a boarding school. After talking to Wrenn, they realize that Paige is doing this because she wants them to be outed.
Wrenn tells her aunt Layna about her and Dalton. She is mad at first but than is understanding and mostly happy. The accusation from Paige is dropped and it won’t affect Dalton’s career. Although Dalton will never be teaching at that specific boarding school again.
Wrenn graduates high school and Dalton surprises her by telling her that he got accepted into undergrad school in Boston, where Wrenn will be going as well.
The head of to LA for a little bit to stay with his mother before they move to Boston. While there Dalton gets the test done to see if he has Huntington’s disease. Unfortunately the results are positive. Dalton has Huntington’s. Wrenn is there for him in support and even a month later as the get ready to move to Boston. They love each other and are not leaving one another. Plus it could be 20+ years before Dalton shows symptoms.
So when 5 years later comes, and they are still as happy as can be – still symptom free. Dalton questions if he wants to give Wrenn kids. Does he want to put his child through what he went through, watching his father die and now himself someday? It’s a hard question and something that they will have to talk about together. But right now they’re happy and still madly in love.
